Urban Outfitters “Thumb-Stopping” Content

When I think of a brand that has “thumb-stopping” content, Urban Outfitters comes to mind. Urban Outfitters diversifies their feed with clothing, accessories, and memes all while keeping a unified filter on their photos to create a aesthetically pleasing Instagram page. Their photos aren’t always centered around their products, instead they’re trying to create a lifestyle brand that embraces fun and trendy content — whatever it may be. A recent post by UO was of a pug and a large glass of red wine. Large wine glasses are definitely a trend the brand is trying to hop on, even though they aren’t selling them on their website.

When UO does post products from their line, they are always up to date on the newest fashion trends. By staging their photos in seemingly normal backgrounds, it also allows viewers to see themselves in UO’s products. UO is also known to post a lot of user-generated content, which gives customers the opportunity to express themselves through UO’s clothes and gives the brand ideas on the different ways the products can be worn.
