Instagram Ads Always Grab My Attention
Instagram ads always tend to grab my attention. Whether it’s trendy clothing or a coffee product I’ve yet to try, I always end up spending a lot more time looking at Instagram ads versus ads on other platforms. This is most likely because Instagram has more information on what people like through our search history, followers, ect. Instagram definitely has more information on me since I spend a majority of my social media time on this platform.
Since Instagrams recent update, I’ve noticed there are ads embedded in my feed that are oftentimes hard to distinguish when quickly scrolling. It also seems like there are more ads than there were in the past. Because of this, I’m more susceptible to stop and look at these ads, and have even ended up buying a product as a result.
I often watch Kardashian clips and reels on Instagram, which is most likely why I’m always targeted ads from Talentless— Scott Disick’s (a member of the Kardashian clan) clothing line. Although I have yet to buy a product, I often look through these ads to see if any pieces jump out at me. Whenever I do this, more Talentless ads pop up the next day creating this endless cycle Kardashian-related products.
I can’t blame Instagram for targeting these ads at users, but I do wish they were less frequent. Instagram used to be a platform that had minimal ads, but now they are inescapable. Worst part is, I’ve fallen into Instagram “ad traps” on a countless occasions by scrolling through them and/or even buying products. Hopefully I’m not receiving more ads because of this, but who really knows.
