How Instagram Reels Influence Me

I’m most influenced by Instagram reels, which mostly consist of fashion/wellness influencers. In these reels, influencers discuss their morning routines, favorite meals, and fashion choices.

The front cover of these reels usually has an enticing photo that draws me into the video. Although I don’t follow through with every recipe, I’ll often make the dishes that look relatively simple — like this coconut curry soup. Instagram has seemed to nail my food profile down, as I often go for dishes that are somewhat healthy but still delicious.

Along with food influencers (if that’s even what they’re called), I’m also often influenced by individuals who post morning routines. This is primarily because I’m not a morning person, so if I can find a way to romanticize getting up at 7 a.m. everyday, I’ll do it. One of the ways wellness influencers like to romanticize waking up in the morning is through small routines like pouring a shot of espresso, picking out fresh clothes, taking a shower, and making a healthy (but delicious) breakfast. I often try the different routines these influencers lay out and even bought an espresso machine because of these reels.

In short, any quick and digestible video that teaches me new recipes, fashion trends, or wellness tricks tends to influence me.
